Are there any fans on this forum of Silent Hill? We shall discuss. (Yes, Tat, you knew this was coming.)

XD lol I saw this topic here and I KNEW you made it before I even clicked on it. I like the Silent Hill games, oddly I'm probably one of the only fans who likes Silent Hill 4. That and SH3 are the only scary games in the series to me.

(Oh, and by the way... spoilers.)
Lately Silent Hill 2 has been popping into my mind. I keep on thinking about just HOW MUCH James was tormented in the game. He went to a prison, surrounded by old-fashioned persecution styles (hanging, impaling!) So, that may have made James get a very, very bad feeling but he still didn't remember why he felt so guilty until he watched the video. When he talked to Eddie, Eddie said: "You're just like me, James." That may have made James another feel another wave of guilt. Eddie kills, so does James.
BUT... SH4 didn't scare me. It just made me go "wtf?" all of the time. SH2 and SH3 scared me, and then SH1 made me feel melancholy. There was something very eerie about it, but the game did scare me at points.

Ooh, cool! The movie is no good at all compared to the games, by the way.
Can we see your cosplay? C: I'm not sure if it makes you a fan or not...? It seems like you like it, but without playing the games... Hmm.

I actually just started getting into the series after playing Silent Hill Origins.
Does playing Silent Hill games in order matter to get most of the story, or are each of them a stand-alone story?

They're a mix of Standalone and embedded stories. The Silent Hill games all have a little something with Alessa but mostly they focus on the main character in the installment.
I've played/watched my girlfriend play them out of order and didn't get lost.

Yup, I would recommend playing in this order, unless you want to mix things up a bit: 1, 3, 2, 4.
Silent Hill 5 is coming in September! That's too long of a wait...! Aaah!

D: I didn't know spam bots liked Silent Hill so much *shot*
I only made it though SH3 with the help of a video walkthough so I knew what was coming. As for SH2, I got ten minutes into it and had a panic attack, and haven't touched it since. I am scared much, much too easily.
But here's the kicker: Even though I can't physically bring myself to play it, I love Silent Hill. I spent all day today reading about SH:Homecoming, and I'm mystified. I don't know why.
wtf self.

Aw, you should give the second game another try. It truly is a classic. *Sparkle, sparkle.* ... I'm serious, it is.
Silent Hill is amazing. It's so deep and psychological.
SH:H is coming out in 10 days! In America, at least. The UK gets it later.
Edit: I became a mod and killed that spam bot. C:

Many thanks for vanquishing the spam bot :3
I want to try SH2 again. I think what got me was when the lying figures darted out from beneath the cars...at least, that's when I had to turn off the game. *is a total pansy*
I WANT HOMECOMING SO BADLY BUT I HAVE A MACBOOK AND NO TV OR PS3 ;_______; Life can be so cruel.

Lying Figure: SCREEEEEEEEECH James: AUUUUUUGH *bashes with plank.*
Those stupid things surprised me way too many times. I hate having to go in the pool to get that coin and avoid them all. But then again, sometimes It's fun to take revenge upon them and beat the snot out of them... *_*
I'm sorry! I never realized how lucky I was until I saw all these people who were without a PS3. If I were rich I'd give you all donations~

And I love how in SH Homecoming, they have a monster called "Smog", who is basically a lying figure turned inside out. I was like "WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS" D:
I do have a PS3, it's just at home, 3 hours away.

I am a fan of the Silent Hill series! Although, I am very disappointed in the direction it's heading. It seems it's straying away from the first and second game, but I expect change, so I am not THAT disappointed :3
I would have to say my all time fave is Silent hill 2, they did everything right in that game, as far as psychological horror goes. The environment was amazing, and I loved the creatures, they didn't go all out with gore and detail, they were subtle and obscure.
SH: Origins was a complete fail, at least I think. They somewhat redeemed themselves with SH:H, although I wasn't completely loving it. I can only hope for the best for this series! 'Cause I love it so much ;-; Pyramid is the sex.
