It has been five years since the demo hooked me in and the game absolutely gripped me. I know that Game Republic (the studio that developed Folklore / FolkSoul) but I still hope that in no more than a few years time, another game developer will pick up the IP and produce a sequel or spiritual successor.
I've read through countless 'Games that need a sequel' and 'Bring back Folklore / Folksoul!' articles and forum threads, and I know that many, many people feel the same.
About once a year, I scour the internet for any new information about Folklore that I can. However, all I find are very old web articles and threads. It seems as if the world never really picked up the game and now even less people are aware of its brilliance.
Each year, it gets more and more depressing to witness the 'extinction' of this game. I truly wish there were more. The beauty of this game can't be left to just one release. Ellen and Keats were wonderful, interesting characters to follow and feel invested in- more than you can say of a lot of the video game characters you see these days. Belgae, Livane, Scarecrow, Ingrid (Ellen's mother) and Regine also made the story really intriguing, especially in the last third of the game.
For as long as I will be asked- Folklore is an amazingly beautiful, emotional, enjoyable experience with one of my favourite narratives/storylines and dialogue in any game.
You hear me, video game industry?!
P.S. I love Folklore / FolkSoul and thought that whilst the community surround the game (and this forum/boards) appear 'dead', I wanted to remind and show everyone that people still deeply love what the game offered and remember Folklore as one of their fondest PS3 experiences. Even after 5 - 6 years, that hasn't changed.
